    Chaotic MMORPG

Post by Coralian on Sun Aug 21, 2016 1:18 pm

Hello, I'm Coralian. I was a Chaotic player waaayyy back when it just started and I was a hardcore fanboy, cards, show, I was completely immersed in the world of Perim and since those days, I always dreamed about a real Chaotic MMORPG. Listen me out.

Ever since I watched the first shows, I almost daily asked myself: why aren't they making an MMORPG out of this or something like it. A world where players can explore the world of Perim, live dangerous adventures, scan extremely rare locations and creatures because they put the time and effort into exploring every nook and crany. And then play the creatures, battlegear, locations they found in the open world of Perim in an arena style game putting 1-5 players versus another player or team.

At the begining you could customize your avatar and then you would get a Guild Wars 2 style questionnaire that would suggest the best faction that corresponds to your answer (Overworld, Underworld, Danian, Mipedian) without locking you into one of those choices. You would then start your adventure in the capital of said faction and start exploring a living breathing world. Implemented with, yet again GW2 style dynamic events for more uncommon creatures, gear, etc, an undefined map to motivate people to explore to get better "cards" and then have the possibility to play the things you tried so hard to get. The player wouldn't have any spells or couldn't lvl up, but he could find battlegear to but into his "inventory" and use in the world of Perrim to interact with the environment or complete quests from important characters to be able to ask for their help with something or get privileged information.

The world could evolve and advance just like in the show. For 4-5 months nothing changes but out of the blue, people start talking about a door in a keep and don't know what it is. People start looking for the door, strange writings, creatures acting strangely. Suddenly, dynamic event, crazy creature opens the doors and BOOM Marrilian invasion up in this ****. The world changes etc...

And then you could have solo or team combat in the domes, have a ranked system, and other. I mean, in my head, this is a freaking INCREDIBLE idea, i just want to know if this has been thought of and if it has, why hasn't it been done? I mean ok you need a ****tone of ressources and money, but i think many people could like this Idea.

For examples, lets say you see, by one magical mean, that there is a plain at the top of a giant moutain with no means to get up there. You try and get the giant wheel motorcycle (forgot the name sadface, feels bad man), ride in upwards the mountain and BOOM new location.

Lets say you need to get over a giant chasm to go on the other side of a forest, befriend Arias by doing his quests, he becomes your friend, knocks down the tree for you and BOOM, ADVENTURE ON.

    And so on

Although it's an interesting idea, the scale of the game would be troublesomely large for anything less than a paid, dedicated team of developers. The number of individual art assets (to say nothing of programming or writing) would be ridiculous - to give you an idea, here are some totals I got from TCO's database:
    -169 Locations
    -176 pieces of Battlegear
-552 Creatures (this number is actually slightly smaller, probably more like 540 or so)
And those are just the ones that were on cards; there are plenty more that we know were unused or had only appeared in the show, plus anything that would be specific to this game. All of those Locations would need to be fully explorable, and all of those Creatures would need their own sets of animations. I mean, I'm making 3D models of a few things from Chaotic just for fun, and it can take a while just to make even a couple of (good) models. Again, that's not even considering the other assets that'd be needed.
I realize that not everything would need to be added at once, but hopefully that helps explain why nobody decided to make something like this.

Yeah I know all those factors come into consideration when deciding to MAKE the game, I'm just hungry to know why it hasn't even been discussed about. Would you be hyped to play that kind of a Chaotic? I want your personal opinion because i also want to know if I'm the only weirdo who really wants this kind of game xD

I don't really play MMORPGs much, but a Chaotic version would probably enough to entice me into it unless there was a hefty subscription fee attached. It sounds like it would be everything Shadow Warriors failed to be. Tongue

Yes I'm not the only one! xD In an ideal world, a pay to play would be so much fun but realistically it would be subscription Wink

If this idea was ever picked up by a dev team, could they take word for word Perim?

Could you clarify what you mean by 'take word for word Perim?"

Sorry, my englando isn't perfect, I mean that lets say a dev team takes on the chaotic mmorpg project, can they use the exact same lore as Perim? Same monsters, gear, locations and events (Marrilian invasion) or would they have to make a complete new lore?

If they wanted to make money off of it, then everything would have to be completely changed to avoid violating copyright - at which point the game wouldn't be recognizable as Chaotic, which (in my opinion) would rather defeat the purpose of making the game in the first place.

Now, if it was done without anyone making a profit off of it, that might be okay. But like I said earlier, that would be incredibly hard to get anyone to do: it'd be a massive amount of effort for no monetary reward (plus the other issue of getting server(s) to host it, which would definitely cost money too).

One day somebody on this site will be a millionaire or a billionaire and they will buy the rights this game and make it great again.

I won't say that much, but I've had the idea and love it.
