A question that has bothered me...

I irregularly hop on here to see what's going on but the one question I've always had about Chaotic has never been answered.

I have bought way more cards than I probably should have over the course of this game's life, most of which are sitting in boxes in my attic now, including an immense amount of cards from the DoP set (I bought two bundles of 360 packs from an eBay deal a couple of years ago for dirt cheap).

When I bought these packs, I assumed I would be able to fill some holes in my collection, (for who knows what, because I was always the only one who played in my area) but I really wanted one card in particular: Canon of Casualty.

Over the course of the entire game, I only had one Canon of Casualty. It was the reason I never played traditional UnderWorld burn decks, because I was too stingy to trade for one online and I didn't like pauper versions of decks.

Mind you, I've been playing since before Silent Sands came out- only pulled one Canon of Casualty, from the UnderWorld starter deck I started with. Never heard anyone ask about it, so I'm asking now: Is Canon of Casualty a starter exclusive, or did I have the worst luck ever in the literal hundreds of DoP packs I've opened?

well your mostly correct, Dawn of perim did two print runs the orginal and a sorta 2nd edition type deal. I'm not sure how to tell them apart by packaging alone, probably the trademark date but anyway I'd say that almost every if not every pack you can buy of DoP now is of the later printing, in this printing they did stuff like use updated text and layout and things like all the rares being full foil instead of the foil titles they did in the original printing. now I don't have any numbers on the orginal sets but I'm gonna assume that every card was in that printing. however for whatever reason they decided to leave out certain cards from the reprint (if you look at the back of a pack you can see the numbers don't sync up quite right) I don't really have any idea which rares/supers/ultras are missing I could probably get a rough idea by looking at which rares I don't have in full foil but I'd still need the numbers from the back of a pack. anyway at the common and uncommon level the missing cards are every card that's in one of the starter decks (I have those pinned somewhere) unfortuently some of the cards are actually pretty useful like canon so its a shame.

Yeah, almost every pack I've opened has been first edition-- I can tell by the boxes of non-foil rares I still have and the foil rares-- Blugon and something else-- I set aside because I thought something was wrong.

That makes a lot more sense though thinking back at some of the other cards in the starter decks-- I guess I never realized with a lot of the other cards because they either became outdated and useless too quickly or I got duplicates of them when people I tried to get into the game quit and gave me whatever cards they had.

Still, I have had some terrible luck with pulls-- I remember it wasn't until a year or two in until I finally pulled any creature ever with the Water element (which probably is very low statistically- my first one was Arbeid btw and i was really happy) and I still don't think I've ever legitimately pulled a Xelfe.

Canons an uncommon but its still just luck..

To answer your question, short and simple, Canon of Casualty is a starter exclusive card. It cannot be pulled from packs of cards. Same things applies to several of the common / uncommon staple cards from Secrets starter decks.
