Whatever happened?

Hello all, sorry if this has been answered before, but what exactly cause the downfall of chaotic? Some lawsuit? Wasn't making enough revenue? One of my friends asked me about it but I couldn't give him a real answer. I am also looking for closure too. It really makes me proud to see that we still have a community.

Oh there were several lawsuits. They were mostly over royalties; basically 4kids used patents from other companies and did not pay them honestly.

Thats the jist: there's more details lurking around the site, just have to find them!

I heard it was that the payments were late so they closed it.  

That probably only applies to the site itself and its recent (last year) closing. Not to why the entire game went bankrupt a few years back.

I think i might have my facts wrong.  

There was also the random unexplained sales dip that TCDigital took that kinda pissed 4Kids off, and lawsuits ensued afterwards. There was a big fat topic on the forums discussing this with a lot of information and numbers posted, but I don't recall any specifics.

The absolute shortest summary you can give for what happened with Chaotic would be this - 4Kids Entertainment entered into a lawsuit against TCDigital before the release of Fire & Stone, and because they held majority share of the rights to the game they put everything on pause during said lawsuit. TCDigital wasn't able to make enough money to support itself since they couldn't release anything, and ran out of money. Kodo Studios began work on bringing back Chaotic, but wasn't able to get the funding.

Why can't we find suitable investors to raise money for the funds?
