Is it just me, or did Odu Bathax get a LOT of improvision in the show?
Let's take a look.
Using resources such as his actual cards and
...We can assume that he is fair, but stern one-track minded bug, and is specifically stated to NOT look for trouble (IE only defend his queen and Hive at the North gate).
Meanwhile in the show, he is shooting Danians ruthlessly with Battlegear, is shown AWAY often from the North gate, and practically jumped into the lion's nest, improvising to take Kiru City. If that's not asking for trouble, I don't know what is.
I can't find too much to counterargue this. Becoming a battlemaster/the show taking place before/after couldn't have done it, because it's when he's fighting the M'arillians when the fact of him not looking for trouble pops up.
I like the big (bug?) guy, but talk about straying from character. Do they do anything as significant as this with any other creature?
