Figured I'd give a greeting. I'm 21 years of age. I played the game from Silent Sands all the way up until the ultimate demise of the game. I currently play more MTG than I should and I've recently gotten into The Elder Scrolls Online. My favorite videogame genre is turn-based tactics RPG (think Final Fantasy Tactics). My favorite genre of anime/manga is Slice of Life, but I also enjoy many others. I'm learning C++ for videogame development and my preferred platform is Linux (Arch Linux currently). I'm pretty much the biggest geek I know.

Hasn't it? It's a bit random, but I was actually just thinking that it would be kinda funny if this forum had the same "Inserting line breaks when editing posts" bug as the old forum. Anyway, is the community pretty active?Marrillian wrote:Hey brainard52, long time no see!

The community has been decent in activity lately even with my frequent absences. I think its because we've been getting people on TCO so there's actually a play aspect. I'm personally glad that the old forum bugs are gone.
I see you're interested in C++. How's that language been treating you? I personnally haven't delved into it. I've done some game dev in C#. So when you say you're primary platform is Linux, do you develop for Linux? or are just using Linux as you're dev environment? Cause not many people develop for Linux, its usually "oh we have some money lets be nice and port" lol

C++ is pretty fantastic. I've been using SFML for my graphics library. I'm still not very good yet, but I'm getting there. Right now I'm learning about state stacks.
As for Linux, I've just used it since highschool and it's about 100x better to develop on than Windows. Inherently, any game I make will also be published for Linux as well.
I've got quite a few ideas for games I think will be pretty unique, so hopefully I can make something that will be popular.
