    Lyssta's effect

Post by CSpacian on Tue Oct 06, 2015 9:24 am

While looking at cards and ideas for some various future Team-Building competition I came upon a question. Concerning Lyssta's effects and the Dread Tread I see no decks built around and no former questions about it.
Can Lyssta's effect occur more than once per turn with the Dread Tread? Her effect for those of you who do not have a copy of her handy is thus:
"When Lyssta wins Initiative, it gains "Outperform Power 10" and "Air 10.""
With the Dread Tread Lyssta could and probably would win Initiative twice. My question is would that give Lyssta Outperform Power 20 and Air 20 as it would win Initiative twice, but Lyssta's effect is written a bit different than most common Creatures.

I'm assuming so, but I haven't seen any decks built around a Creature that could in theory deal an additional 40 damage with just one attack.

all effects that  do not state otherwise end at the end of turn not at the end of battle. so if lystaa was in multiple battles in 1 turn she could in theory gain her effect more times you should be aware as with all dread tread users that harmful effects most importantly damage will also remain to the next battle so keep that in mind

I just wasn't sure as its not worded like 'At the beginning of combat' or something similar and multiple battles isn't something that occurs too often.
With a good attack and concerning that she wins Initiative she could just oneshot her next opponent. Inferno Gust would deal 55 damage.

Uksum keeps his extra energy but would Lystta keep her air 10 and outpreform power 10.. I feel she should cause its technically the same combat she was in last battle.. it's why Lystta doesnt regain her energy with Dread.

because most effects including damage end at the end of turn not the end of combat. this is normally not a big deal but it can be useful in a few cases for example if you weaken a zamool in battle then burn him with mugic when the battle is done. It also comes in to play when multiple battles take place in a single turn(Dread tread and prexxor being the only examples I can think of). Since the turn doesn't end all effects and all damage persists into future battles on the same turn so long as they don't say otherwise. This is partly uksum dread tread is so popular since he gets extra energy at the start of every combat you can gain energy to help overcome any damage you may have taken during the first battle.

Also since Uksum is meek, rip.

Oh and if you play Deep Dirge, you gain an additional 40 energy. If you build a deck with minimum 65 e creatures, thats 65 energy first combat then 105 next combat. Unless you negate that meek, there is 2 free combat wins.

    Sorry for off topic haha.

Yeah, multiple combats per turn can easily turn the match around. Stelgar VM, Takinom Shadow Knight, Kiru, and a few others easily take advantage of it. Just one turn can easily create massive boosts.
