Mipedian Biology

So I recently got the Khilaian Sphere, and there are three bits of Mipedian biology I felt the need to bring up
a. Mipedians apparently often have crests which raise and lower depending on their emotions. Think of them as hair in terms of what emotions cause what(i.e., fear makes them stand straight up)
b. Mipedians are born from sacs of some sort.
c. The Mipedian dragons are ancestors to the modern Mipedians. Certain evolutionary throwbacks like Kehn-Sepp do exist, who is noted to have draconic wings. Maybe Ubliqun is such a Mipedian too?

Mipedian spikes can also raise and lower based on mood, so they're connected only by skin.

I'm wondering is this book cannon? Cause I've read complaints about the ending. Either way interesting facts. I may pick it up.

I would guess it's canon, I don't see why not. The complaints about the ending are that it ends on a massively dark note that's also a cliffhanger. But there was definitely a sequel planned, even the prologue begins with Aa'une's defeat, so we know that the dark ending wasn't really the end
