The main strategy of Stelphor is to stall turns with Phelphor in order to gain counters on Stelgar to boost his stats and energy. You do however only want to have two turns maximum without combat, due to the showdown rule. On the final turn before showdown, you will want to use Phelphor's ability to grapple one of your opponent's support creatures to engage with Kepiaan or Tangath Toborn by forcing the opponent to move into him with Phelphor's 4 Mugic Counter ability. Once Stelgar's energy and stats are around 120 you should be safe to start engaging with him, however, it is recommended to stall for as long as you can even if you think you can win. Phelphor's ability can be utilized to also effectively mitigate most mirage locations and essentially remove the defender ability.
