Well, looks like the roles were reversed in the newer one, huh?

Yeah it was, if you mean by stats. But if you mean because of the two separate cards then not so much. Even there were ranks in the Now Or Never series just like in the current but those ranks got individual cards as well. See:

In the original game Aauni would still cause a serious problem for the opponent because Deep Ones could not be attacked unless the opponents creatures were equipped with an U-DU weapon card.
And same went for mipedians. Couldn't be attacked unless you had a Spectral Glasses Weapon card.

I meant in terms of story, but hm.
This is pretty cool. A lot of stuff I never knew.

Basically it puts the over and underworlders as the invaders and the deep ones as defending the home front. And sorry I didn't get your meaning sooner. My bad. Also there was an alliance with the danian and Deep Ones. And mipedian and danian as well.

Its interesting that it hints at more leaders than just Aa'Une, who was the only ruler in the new Chaotic. I guess it gives his name as the Oligarch an interesting new spin as the Oligarch is supposed to be a system where a few have pretty much supreme say, so I guess the new Aa'Une was supposed to be like a combination of all the old Deep Chiefs?

The Deep Chiefs are just called the Chieftains. The Psikoom is the oligarchy in question and the chieftains are all oligarchs, it's just that Aa'une is the highest on the totem pole due to nepotism

Seeing as we are all throwing out theories here I'm gonna throw out a few. Remember when dawn of perim started? They made Mudeenu ooraised as the leader but then changed it up. In the original Mudeenu was never praised as leader in fact was only consider to be the predecessor to King Shaan IV, so no one really clarified the leader of the deep ones or the mipedians. I believe the American writers just went with the project rather than being creative with it. They changed so much and in return it all sort of bled into a series of questions that will never be answered. Also they made danian and mipedian and Deep Ones mortal enemies to the over world and under worlders and claimed them as aliens but never explained any of the sorts in the series we know today. The series was cut too short and with this we can revive it.

But may never get the answers we need or want also some cards imply that the Deep Ones are forcing others into their war.

I'll add other images later to show the supposed alliance. It's quite clear tho that not all agreed with this choice. As you will soon notice.

Look at the mudeenu card again. Queen Azliizsa. Flip it around and see the name, Aszil in there. (Aszil the danian queen) coincidence or maybe a tribal alliances through marriage of the rulers. creepy. A lizard and an Ant. How do they do it.
