Gear Clarification

While looking for useful defender or defender-like cards, I stumbled upon Algal Wings of Attraction. It states, "If an adjacent opposing Creature can move into equipped Creature's space, it must do so. (You may only initiate one combat per turn.)."

Does this mean that (provided it's face up), the enemy is forced to attack this creature if it's adjacent (acting sort of like defender)?

Yeah as long as its face up, an adjacent enemy creature has to start combat with you. Its like Mipedim Mirage.

Defender is conditional actually, when a creature declares an attack, you have an option to defend with a creature, then they swap places. There's no relocation involved with Algal obviously. 

So in practicality yeah, its essentially defender.
