Activated ability (as defined by Dissonance of Will) - Activated abilities are ones with a cost.
Examples: Maxxor (original); Droskin; Endymion, the Master Magician (last effect); Door to Nothingness (win con ability)
Triggered ability (as defined by this stupid OverWorlder) - Triggered abilities are ones that react to specific events.
Examples: Hune Paltanin; Frozen Fire; Sangan; Rafiq of the Many (both abilities)
Pretty much any ability in all three of those games with a "When X event happens, Y event follows" clause is triggered. Since both Jade Pillar and Fire Ring feature that infamous "When" that triggered abilities are known for, Masilbaat would gain nothing from them since they weren't activated.
Marksman's Preparation doesn't have the "When", but since you can only discard the second copy directly after the first resolves, it's a triggered ability. If you could discard it at any time the first was in your Attack Discard, that would make it activated. And also ridiculously powerful without the tempo loss.
TL;DR - No, Masilbaat still cries and dies in all three cases.
