Really stupid battlegear question

Well, I warned you guys. You're probably going to lose a few brain cells reading this. Anyways I've only recently gotten back to playing chaotic so I'm not entirely familiar with the rules and all that, but I was reading some stuff about the old Chaor bloot barath decks from DOP and came across a build where Bloot had a Vile Driver equipped, despite him not having the earth element. I had originally thought that items like Torwegg, Vdriver, Torrent Krinth, etc, only worked on creatures that actually had that element, ie a Qwun with a Torwegg using lightning burst does 15 instead of 10 with the attack, while the Torwegg would have no effect on a creature w/o the Air element. So, does Element 5 from items like Viledriver still work on LVB despite him not having fire [ie if he used Torrent of Flame, it would actually end up doing 5 damage]? Appreciate it if anyone answers.

You answered your own question before asking the question...

Way back in DoP, you didn't need an Element to gain a boost. However, that was errata'd later on so that Element X required the Element in question to be included in the calculation.

Well it doesn't do anything. Torrent of Flame wouldn't do 5 damage unless LVB had Fire in addition to his Battlegear. Regardless of when the card was printed, the rule itself was eratta'd and that's why it no longer works. I'm not sure how you "Answered your own question", but I'm glad I could help.
