Own Tabletop Simulator? Play Chaotic.

Hello again everyone! Some of you might remember me as the one who made the Chaotic Card templates (which I still feel bad that work and school got the best of me, so I was unable to fulfill some of the requested templates. I had worked on them, but I never finished them).

Well, I'm now here to tell you that if you're the owner of a copy of Tabletop Simulator you can once again enjoy the card game across the virtual world (in a physical fashion)!

Tabletop Simulator is a game in which you can recreate almost any card game or board game. The day I got it, I had made it my goal to recreate Chaotic.

Well, I honestly had forgotten that goal for awhile until recently when I decided to delve back into it. xD

And I went to work.
Sadly the resolution of the cards and playmat aren't the greatest, mainly because there's no where that hosts any better resources. I could recreate them using my templates, but I'd need the art work for every card. That'd be a lot of work! @.@

So far the only included cards are all of the Dawn of Perim cards. So nothing further yet. However, as time goes on and if there's enough demand for it I might end up importing other decks. Or you can, yourself, if you want! ^^

(I actually created a Python script to automatically write the stats to cards for me, so all I needed to do was provide the average stats and the image of the card... I might make this resource public if people are interested in importing decks into the game.)

Anyway, if any of you have Tabletop Simulator I hope you enjoy!
If not, I'd recommend looking for it on sale. Full price might be a bit too much, personally. But if you ever find it on sale I'd highly recommend it. ^^

wow this is pretty impressive. I was able to figure everything I needed to know through the tutorial and my single player game went pretty well. I can't really give a full review of the game until I have a match and see how it goes so if anyone would like to play me on this let me know. but for now I'll say it's simaler to TCO in that you play it like you would the card game but even more so your literally playing with the cards the card quality actually pretty good despite what was said I can easily read all the stats on ability on every card and from the few I checked the all seem to be accurate.

Yeah, if there are any issues (e.g. incorrect stats, things not working, etc), or if you have any better instructions for how to play for the mod description, feel free to say so! I wanna' try to refine this as best as possible.

I actually had to research all the stats and stuff on my own, so any inconsistencies wouldn't be a surprise. The bigger surprise is that they all appear to be correct, from your feedback! I didnt know about the archive of average stats that is linked around here on the forum, so I had to either rely on the old (and sometimes very incorrect) Chaotic wiki, or find third-party sites which listed the average stats. Glad to hear everything seems good so far!

Tabletop Simulator is a fantastic application for many reasons. When I saw the potential of it, I just knew I had to import Chaotic over to it. xD

I wasn't even expecting that at all. xD I was actually looking for the topic, trying to see if there were any replies or anything, and I couldn't find it -- Initially I thought it got removed or something for some reason. Quite the surprise on my part to see it was moved to the announcements!

Still disappointed Chaotic as a whole doesn't get as much love as it should. This was the only card game I could ever get into. Super happy to hear that community creations are picking up! I hope maybe we end up spreading out so much that we can pick up a few new players to Chaotic. Like, an unofficial revival of sorts! ^^

upon closer examination some of the stats are defiantly off so you should probably go through them with the stat list and check them

If you can name some specifics, it'd be most appreciated! ^^

Just the card names would be fine. I can look up the stats myself.

This should be the most acurate resource on card average stats. I would't trust the wiki that much either haha. Too bad I couldn't have shared this with you earlier.

I actually came across it right as I was uploading the mod to Steam Workshop and I was like "Well crap... that would have been much more useful."

I've been pressed for time in the past few days, so if anyone can help in checking cards with incorrect stats that'd be marvelous. Just saying the name of any card you come across that has the wrong stats is worlds of help to me!

What's actually super nice about this database of stats is that I arranged my script to read the stats from a file in the exact way they're listed on the database. (Courage, Power, Wisdom, Speed, Energy)
So it's nice that I can just copy-paste the row of stats to run it through my program. Saves me a lot of time. xD

I think I fixed the Overworlders. I also added a few cards that were missing.

The mod should auto update next time you launch Tabletop Simulator.

So, how many people actually use this and play Choatic on it? I've been dying to play again. Couldn't remember my old account, though.

Most people use Trade Cards Online as the website is free to use. I'm not sure how many people are users of tabletop simulator.

I'm actually in the middle of making my own Chaotic mod for Tabletop Simulator. I'm going for simulating the experience of actually opening booster packs and adding the cards to your own collection (via the "Save to Chest" feature in the game) so you can experience playing with a limited collection online!

holy crap yes finally chaotic sealed I've been experimenting with myself on strictly hypothetical basis this will be so much more practical than the rng I've been using

I can make my mod public at a moment's notice (It's currently Friends-Visible-Only while I iron out the issues)

I've also stopped at Silent Sands, but only because I'm working on creating higher quality cards using KingCrazy's templates.

so I've been goofing around with the new sets and it seems pretty neat still haven't had a chance to actually play anyone lol so I'm not 100% sure how functional it is. I think I figured out how you would deckbuild and such mostly I just wish there was a easier way to track energy (and other stats too but mostly energy) like a clear counter of some kind like you might use in other games to track life (see magic and yugioh) I never liked the stupid sliders on the playmats even in person lol

While the program is very versatile to simulating any card game, it's too generic to have very specific things happen. I'm not sure how far their scripting system has gone, but maybe there's something that can be done!

And @King A-Game Darini: Yep! Although Quazerflame is trying to work on an HD version of all the cards, so I sort of might stop development. xD He's probably going to take over on the mod from here. I'm just providing the templates at this point.

I would love to actually incorporate a script to track energy and such, but sadly I'm really unsure of how far Tabletop Simulator can go when it comes to scripting. >_<

I've taken a quick glance at the api. From what I can tell, this should be possible. You can assign variables to objects and then modify them. Have you written any scripts? May I see what you've done?

Is it possible to have locations displayed properly (sideways) when pressing alt and hovering?
