Chaotic Card Templates

Hello everyone, I'm back! As some of you might have known, a few days ago I released a template based on the TV-show's style. With this you could make new cards, but it only had the features of the show's cards! Now, in that topic I said it would take me awhile to create a template for the real cards. I had looked around and failed to find any real templates for making real cards. Well now, let me present to you all:
A real Chaotic card template! (Based on the Series I style)
* Photoshop Versions (RECOMMENDED)
* Non-Photoshop Versions
NOTE: PNG versions of the Attack card template, and the Battlegear templates are provided in the Photoshop download.

UPDATES:
[12/23/13] - Added   M'arillian Templates! However, they're still in series 1 style (Sorry, but I don't think I'll be doing other series styles... ).

[1/1/14] - Added Alliance Unraveled and Fire and Stone (At the request of Chaotic11) to the Icon PNG file and created a new PSD file for the rarity icons which can be found here. Enjoy, and happy new year!

[1/7/14] - Created Attack Card template! All PSD's and PNGs are in one downloadable ZIP file located here. Enjoy, everyone! I plan to do Battlegear, and locations next. Mugic may never happen due to the layout of the card.

[1/8/14] - Edited Attack Card background. I forgot to add in the new background that I had created (Since creature cards and attack cards have different numbers in the background). That has been fixed. I also faded the background so it's not so vibrant.

[1/20/14] - Sorry for the delay. Since school started I've had less time to work on this. :(However, I've done it! I've added a template for Battlegear, and modified the Attack Card template a bit (fixed and issue where the background text was sort of appearing in PNG versions of cards. Sorry! D: )

A fully functional card template. This will let you actually create new cards and use them in IRL matches! You can use this for whatever you want. Please do not redistribute these to other websites, though. You can link to them but don't re-upload them somewhere else.

Besides the fact that I've officially released this, these were created by completely re-creating the card's layout, as well as creating logos in Illustrator and adding them into photoshop. What does this mean? It means the cards are high-quality. These cards won't look like a bad patchwork of various cards put together to make a template. They're also easily accessible from my DeviantArt account (Not on some anonymous website!). If they're ever inaccessible, you can easily message me. I'll always have these stored on my computer!

Don't have photoshop? No problem! Just download the non-photoshop versions (listed above).

I've updated the .PNG icon set and created a new .PSD with all the rarity icons in it (because I know I didn't do the text right. It's so hard to make it look right xP).

The PSD currently includes:
* Dawn of Perim
* Alliance Unraveled
* Fire and Stone

rarity icons. Not sure if I'll do the others. I had to do AU in order to do the Fire and Stone rarity icons (The AU logo is the little circle in the middle of it).

Correct, these aren't exactly the same. There are minor differences. Just think of it as a new series of cards!

So here's the mugic - it's by no means perfect, but they're pretty functional; all you have to do is fill in the text box then put the image you want for the mugic over the background easy peasy. You may have to move the text up or down a tad depending on the effect and the cost. To put the mugic cost in I recommend using the already available card icons.

You know I honestly did search for the fonts they used, but sadly I was unable to find a free font that fit. Some of them that were close were around $30, and that means anyone who wanted to use the PSD file would have to pay $30 to use those fonts :X. I actually just used Arial for most of the fonts, but tweaked them with Photoshop's type tools to make them look a bit better. The font for the numbers I know is off (at least for the mugic counter), but as said I tried looking and couldn't find anything... :(Anyone is welcome to edit their own fonts into the template though.

But anyway glad you like it.

Hmmm wonder if we have any resources who could actually get us the font... I am assuming it was a custom font.
Actually does anyone know how to make fonts? Because we could just take each letter and make the font personally.

I could try to make a font for it, but I make no promises. I've never done it before, but I've looked up information about it. It doesn't seem so hard so much as tedious. I could be wrong, though. xP

Also M'arillian templates have been added.

They look great. The only thing is the inactive Air Photoshop one looks...Well it doesn't look like anything. I can't see it. Do you have one? Or is my computer just not showing it for whatever reason?
Also, an idea I had, perhaps inactive elements could just take on a grey scale instead of the active color. Don't know how it would look, it was just a thought.

Yea, the elements should be grayed out.

Actually on the real cards the elements are just faded. Look closely. These templates are meant to replicate the real cards. If you want to edit them, by all means take the template and edit it to your desire!

Also, I can actually see the inactive air icon just fine. Might be my monitor though. *shrug*

You might be getting confused at how the white of it disappears. This is on the real cards as well. When air element is inactive, the white "stroke" of most of it is gone, leaving the blueish parts still there (just faded).

The reason why I put these at such a low opacity is because on the real cards, I honestly have to look closely to see the faded icon, myself. The attention should be drawn to the creature actually having abilities, as opposed to their lack-of. Too bright of an inactive element icon could confuse players into believing they have an element they don't have, or maybe it being a printing error.

Though what I can do is bump the opacity up to 15% from 10% if that makes it better.

I don't disagree. Original cards were faded, I was just curious how a grey would look.
And I don't know why my laptop won't show. I tried tilting the screen to get a different contrast, and it's just now showing up.
The templates you've made are gorgeous. Feel free to make Creature designs to attach them. I'm sure we could come up with nifty abilities as a community. :p

Edit: Do you have any plans to include brainwashed templates? Or Tribeless? I'm not sure what would be required for that.


Also, King, didn't Blits say something about having a large Chaotic image resource? If he did, perhaps we could take the time to re-evaluate older cards and update abilities and stats. Just a thought.

Yes he said he did. From the artists themselves. Those will definitely be high quality. Of course you can always find alot of art on deviart.

Yeah. I found a bit of Chaotic stuff on Deviant. Good stuff. Depending on how much he's got, we could release a fan series and have it for download like Cards against Humanity. Just provide a high quality PDF download and ta-dah

1. Sorry if I sounded a bit snippy with my previous comment... xD I didn't mean it if I did. Sure you can try to see how they'd look grey. Not sure why it wouldn't pop up on your screen... . What you can do to make it grey, though, is find the "inactive" element layers you wish to edit, select them, and go to image>adjustments>hue/saturation, and turn the "saturation" levels all the way down.

2. I'm sure he probably meant you can find the artists and their collection of card images on Deviantart. Khary Randolph has a gallery (he's one of my favorite artists for Chaotic cards), as well as E-mann. These are the two I've seen most prominently, however I'm sure other artists are on DeviantArt who helped make Chaotic cards. Check the artists on the side of a card for names, and then see if you can find them.

Oh and I might do Tribeless. Not sure about brainwashed. Are those the ones that just fade to black on the bottom? I never really had any of those. (I only got a few packs from M'arillian Invasion. Most of my collection is Series 1 and 2.)

Well the problem with Brainwashed is that the size of the brainwashed textbox depends on the amount of text. So you would have to resize the box each time. Which shouldn't be a problem if it is a solid color like I think it is. Just a little more of a hassle.

I'm looking at cards, and too me the elements look more grayed out. But I like what you have anyway.

I'm looking at both a series 1 (which is what this Template was based off) and a M'arillian card, and in both I can detect some color in the inactive elements. The later cards it's for sure tougher to see, but I can tell it's there.

I concur. It's a fade, not a grey.

I've made several cards, and by far these templates are top notch!

If possible, could you make fire and stone (if possible storm and sea) icons? I don't really care about the other set symbols...

Also KingMaxy, I have a folder on my computer of like 50+ chaotic arts that were never used, aside from the other 30-40 arts I just found around the internet that i've used for cards.

I've found a few sweet card art from the next set, but it would be interesting to see if you have any that I haven't seem.
