Meme Deck Series Empty Meme Deck Series

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 3:08 pm

So this started as a joke, when I saw some people throwing around dumb deck ideas. Then people liked it, so I've continued with a few more decks. I'll use this thread to showcase the creations.

I will define meme decks in this series as a deck where the focused Creatures/combo could have been used in a better manner, or the focused Creature used is considered generally bad.

I'll provide a little background and how the deck performed.

The layout of the decks is in recode format:

    1
    23
    456

    Meme Deck Series Empty Firebird

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 3:26 pm

The concept for this deck was to have Magmon Engulfed with Ninren. Recklessness 35 requires a lot of conjurors. You could probably replace Akkalbi with Ranun though.

Outcome: Abysmal 0-5 I retired and promptly deleted the deck. There didn't seem like a case where the deck would win against anything competent.

Meme Deck Series Empty Phasing Dragon

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 3:42 pm

After the poor result of the previous deck, I wasn't expecting to go back into meme level. But then people were talking about combining strike with Warbeasts. I believe someone ultimately mentioned Gintanai, so that's what I went with.

For the general strategy, if your opponent doesn't have targeting Mugic and abilities, you want to sacrifice Headmaster first. When you get Sirocco what you flip depends on the situation. You might need the Mugic counters to pay for something, or want to steal location advantage. Sacrifice the Owayki that had its battlegear used up first in any case.

Results: Outstanding 8-1. I lost one game and mad a couple of tunings. I was going to stop playing at 1 win or 5 losses (whichever came first) like the previous, but after how well it won, I kept going. I don't know what to say, Gintanai is strong, and you have tricks in the deck. I choose to retire it because I don't want to tarnish the winrate.

Meme Deck Series Empty Re: Meme Deck Series

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 4:01 pm

With the success of the previous deck, and the concept of me meming around in queue gaining popularity, I had to follow up with something else to please the crowd. I didn't have any idea, so I asked for suggestions.

Eremia is one of those cards where she's really cool, but her ability just misses. Who was a good expend target? Eventually the suggestion was to combine her with Amblox to get Vunhra's bonus damage. Of course Ikkatosh is added for extra energy. Well what are we going to do with her element? I could make a water deck, but the the other Creatures can't expend for Ikkatosh timing.

Aquatic Familiar seemed like the logical next step. I could gain 100 wisdom using two Amblox's per combat! So I made a standard Wisdom (hint of Courage) attack deck copied from Wise Guys and threw in Lomma, Desert Wanderer with another Aquatic Familiar. Which means if you win combat with Lomma (from defending), now you'll have 3x Water expends for 150 Wisdom gain on Eremia!

Okay one more fun fact that sealed the deal, I was checking out Aquatic Familiar's art, and I was completely shooketh to discover that Eremia was using it in the art!? Crazy!

A couple of tips, to gain initiative at the Overworld Library, save expending Amblox until after the beginning of combat trigger, so you'll have water when initiative is checked. Perform Infections before attacking if the active location is The Infectorium, otherwise you'll miss the timing on expending Eremia.

Results: 2-4. It's okay. Had some trouble against facing higher tier decks. Took me a couple of mistakes learning how to play with the deck too.

Meme Deck Series Empty Beach Episode

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 4:17 pm

With the hype growing, more ideas were thrown around. Since Dawn of Perim Takinom had a deck, the idea of making a playable Intress deck caught my attention.

There's not much to work with, but since she does have Water 5, I decided to go that route over the typical Ikkatosh + expend element (Aquatic Familiar).

For some reason the theme of the deck, feels like an anime beach/school trip/hot springs episode. Featuring: the facility supervisor or teacher, Najarin who went off to drink with his buds, and Rellim the shirtless guy showing off trying to impress the ladies, Lomma and Intress.

Results: 2-0 It's okay. Intress can win fights, Lomma obviously is better. But Riverland stars with Rellim's energy boost and the Water 5 makes Intress playable. Not overwhelmingly impressive, but not an expect to lose when you queue.

    Meme Deck Series Empty Godzilla

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 4:45 pm

Despite the brutally terrible (but expected) performance of Firebird, the crew still wanted another shot at Magmon + Warbeast. Ixxik seemed like a good choice.

I decided to go with Challor on Ranun even though it prevents Ravitta Flower because there are a lot of Ulmquad's running around. You could take the risk, and at low tier it'd be better.

If you go second, they're going to attack the Magmon Engulfed, so you'll just have to live with that. Since Ixxik needs Sun Chariot you can't utilize Algal Wings of Attraction.

Results: 3-0. Good. I am very happy that this deck reclaimed the travesty that was Ninren + Magmon Engulfed. It's super fun seeing the big damage output and reduced damage input.

Meme Deck Series Empty Nurturing Teamwork

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 5:05 pm

For this deck build, I didn't even expect anything. It's so dumb. You're relying on stacking triggers and adjacency to get a huge fighter. Stack Arctus on the stack first so it resolves after Ikkatosh. Then you'll have 110 energy Arctus with 3 elements!

Tips: You predominately want Arctus to fight. Use Gear Glisando to flip up Wings of Attraction unless you think you'll need it to flip an opposing Creature's Battlegear and aren't too threatened by their fighters. Tangath has a lot of health too providing Rellim is online. So you can be able to risk it if you go second. You don't have enough Mugic Counters to cast everything, so consider if you'll need the Interlude of Interruption and second Rhyme of the Reckless over Gear Glissando as well.

Results: 3-0. Greatly exceeded expectations. You kinda gotta bluff that it's scary. I can't believe I was winning with this deck.  Funny enough, my first game I beat a Discard Chieftain Destroy 0 discipline deck because I used Ice Disk. And 100 Courage was significant to survive Gantrak. Instant concede.

Meme Deck Series Empty Can't Exhaust this Flame

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 13, 2021 5:26 pm

This deck wasn't prompted, I thought of it after seeing someone have Stelgar and Ooloo in their UnderWorld deck. Ooloo was for the Mugic counter, so it was suggested to use Kreaal instead (same elements but no recklessness). Then I realized Stelgar's discipline gain counteracts Kreaal's exhaust!

So I had two front line fighters, all that's left is a third. I was debating whether to go fire air or discipline since Stelgar has all above 60. Then I thought Gigantrooper to remove the exaust. Ustabe is Intimidate 30 on top of already Intimidate power 40 from 2x Kreaals.

I was still on the fence about Fire Air at that point, but now with Gigantrooper it makes even more sense to go with discipline instead. Originally, I had Kopond High Muge to offset the damage difference, but everyone else has 65 energy. Now that I don't even need Fire Air, how about Uksum! So I swapped in Chaor and slapped Bronzeflight; why not? He can defend Kreaal.

Well after the first game I came to the painful realization, Stelgar effect is after it deals damage. So I'd perpetually have 55 to stats when I attacked and missed my stat checks. One Kreaal had to go. Lord Van Bloot was a fine alternative with his pushed stat line.

You can substitute your Elemental Denial/Denying Dirge for Caster's Warsong and play them off Lord von Bloot.

Results: 3-0. This is a fun deck to play. You have 135 energy Uksum and your opponent has -20 power so you'll most likely make the few challenges. Stelgar packs a punch too with Aspect Amplifier and make up the difference with your burn Mugic or other choices.

Meme Deck Series Empty Can't Touch This

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Fri May 14, 2021 10:27 am

This deck was my April Fools deck. Yokkis Spooker is a fun card with his surprise text (I wish more of the promos were fun like him). His art is terrifying though.

I decided to go a hybrid of discipline dagger for attack deck consistency. So Lanker/Ikkatosh base. I've made a low tier Ebbikka + Dagger deck before, so I was like, why not throw her in here too.

Results: Tons of wins. Outstanding! Some hilarious chats where people completely lost it when Yokkis clapped their decks.

Meme Deck Series Empty Unusual Companions

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Wed May 19, 2021 9:47 am

This deck wasn't initially made for the meme, but I'm retroactively adding the label.
The deck is a mashup of creatures with Air, and tied together loosely by Grantkae's discipline gain.

Thought process went something like, I want an Air Power deck for Lyssta. Malvadine has air and defender, need a royal (Grantkae), look for a decent OverWorlder with Air and Mugic counters (Illiar), and Headmaster Ankhyja, Seeker of the Art just to protect against element hate.

Originally I ran Joore, but that felt counter-productive; since you get Intimidate and discipline boosts on your turn, but if you're attacking supports then you're not getting making use of that value. But you can substitute Joore + Gigantrooper for the front Malvadine.

Results: (untracked). Performs decently, not anything ground breaking.

Post by Drosera Wed May 19, 2021 9:02 pm

Because Danians are one of the only two tribes to get 3+ elements routinely and have Tassanil, they made a prime subject for building a deck where Allmageddon is actually usable.

Unfortunately, Allmageddon still sucked, but having 4 elements allows for some interesting attack combinations.

Gameplay: Use Tassanil to give Fire to your fighters, and then hit people with elemental attacks. Mhein has three elements by default and is a Mandiblor for revives with Talisman, Ulmquad gets Earth from Aszil for 3 elements in combat and gets some decent value with his ability.

At Carnival, prioritize Water with Tassanil because Ulmquad will not be able to get all four elements.

Other options: Katharaz and Nimmei also have three elements, making them technically usable in a build like this, and also can use Unbalancing Battlesong over at least one of the Surprising Riffs. Whirling Wail and Flaming Coals are other 3-costs that work well in the attack deck.

Finally, as the name suggests, Allmageddon works with this deck. But as my intro suggests, it sucks for how much BP it eats up.

Meme Deck Series Empty Primal Eloquence

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Thu May 20, 2021 9:15 am

Today's build is similar lineup to the previous one I posted. But the focus this time is Ixxik instead of Lyssta.

Grantkae again for the utility, and Agitos to get at least 2 combats out of Ixxik. This is one of the times I actually would run Castle Momark because the deck's best fighter is Ixxik and the other Creatures besides Alaiv are expendable.

I include Ghundac because I wanted the Grantkae's last buff, but you can run two Illiars. I made the focus discipline, but you could substitute Whirling Wail.

Results (untracked). Good. I made this deck before Rawr, so I didn't expect that Ixxik would be competitive. But even in this deck, he's a force to reckon with. Despite being losely cohesive, it's fun to play and can win games.

Meme Deck Series Empty GorGim/GormWei/(insert witty pairing name here)

Post by Drosera Thu May 20, 2021 10:57 am

Exactly what it says on the tin - Gorram paired with Gimwei for some sick Fire Element bonuses. Attacks are mostly focused on fire and water because Gorram gives Water 5 if any of your fighters die.

Zapetur serves as your disposable fodder Creature to activate Gorram and take at least one Battlegear with him - two if Strain of Ash resolves.

Other options: Symphony of Shielding or Harmonious Highsong can be used as a replacement for Refrain of Denial. Carnivore's Keening can be substituted in place of Battlesong of Renewal to protect Gorram better versus burn while still having a healing option. A second Tangath Toborn can be used in place of one of the Gimweis (if you wanna be a bit risky, he can also replace Lomma but then you don't have a Defender for Gorram unless you're willing to settle for Bronzeflight over Drill); additionally, Tangath can run Xerium Armor.

    Meme Deck Series Empty Hurricane

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Fri May 21, 2021 9:22 am

Magma Might, Ground(ing) Grapple, (Dead)water Devestation, Before the Storm?! All the other's have alliteration... what happened? Storm Strike fits the card and fits the cycle, so that's its new name to me.

The concept of the deck was how about if we had Iflar's Improvisation with Before the Storm.  Then I thought, well I still want my attack cycles, so let's throw in Arrthoa + water. Laminkal fits the bill. Since we have fluidmorphing, Ylinn also is cool for stacking counters to boost strike after exhausting Improv. I choose the Malvadine + Na-inna package.

I recommend swapping Malvadine / Orchis for Lomma, Dessert Wanderer / Sandstorm Shroud. If you do, replace Gear Glissando with Refrain of Denial. You could also replace Gear Glissando for Melody of Mirage in either build.

Results: 2-11 Absolutely Abysmal. Originally I ran Xerium Armor on Laminkal. But the first 4 decks I faced had invisibility (no Headmaster Ankhyja). So then I swapped on Spectral Viewer since the deck completely loses its purpose without strike and faced everything but no Headmaster Ankhyja invisibility decks. I think the deck is fun, but its just nowhere near competitively viable.

Tip: When playing Meditative Leap off of Laminkal, select itself so that you don't transfer from anyone. On your first turn you might need to transfer a MC from Malvadine (or Arrthoa) onto Na-inna to get Iflar's Improv before fluidmorphing. If Arrthoa, be careful because you lose access to your Interlude until you fluidmorph if you do.

    Meme Deck Series Empty Strikeless

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Mon May 24, 2021 9:33 am

So this deck came about with the concept of how to deal as much non attack "damage" without being a traditional UnderWorld burn deck or how to be Mipedian Strike without the Strike.

On your turn you have effectively 50 "intimidate" energy before your first attack! The 2 Ulmars help close in the damage.

Originally, I ran Karraba instead of Akkalbi to be an OverWorlder for Grantkae, also its a Muge to be able to play Caster's Warsong if needed, but the Recklessness from Ketacc could become problematic if you weren't able to one shot your opponent on the first attack.

Results: (untracked). Performed better with Akkalbi for sure. The lack of defender makes the deck unstable though.

Meme Deck Series Empty We have Ulmar At Home

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Tue Aug 24, 2021 4:11 pm

This deck was a theory craft on how to deal self damage to trigger Danian Carapace to double the infection per attack. The Creatures that have activated abilities that deal damage as a cost are limited to once per turn. So the most consistent way would be through Recklessness. But there's not a reliable way to give recklessness to Fliander since Magmon, Englufed has a Fire requirement. So outside of Fliander, there's not that many options when it comes to using those tokens. Yondaf, Symbiotic Infector dealing 10 damage each attack (non renewable) didn't seem to bad though.

Results: 0-3. Do you like combo decks that don't produce results? Well this is it then. At least Firebird required less actions to play.

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Tue Sep 14, 2021 3:51 pm

The goal of the deck is to stack counters on Kyhbon by stalling turns. Then while Masibaat is engaged, use Kyhbon's ability to deal 40 and gain 40 on Masibaat.

Meme Deck Series Empty Re: Meme Deck Series

    Post by KingMaxxor4 Wed Sep 15, 2021 1:03 pm

I was working on how I could improve Firefly (Ulmquad, Laminkal, Bahrakatan + Mipedian Fulgurite) and then after some weird ideas thought, how about if I combined it with Gan'trak! But with one more creature slot down, the deck wouldn't really have a caster, so I decided that Blaaxa would be right for the job. Since battlegear destruction was already covered, I felt like committing to protect against UnderWorld burn. The Mugic lineup is basically the toughest part of the deck because it must change reacting to the meta and what matchups you're hoping to win against.

Results: 2-8. This deck seemed like it'd be good on paper, but it just lost continuously.

A silly take on Glapaal using big chungster Ursis.

    Strategy:
If you don't suspect your opponent has gear flip or you wish to use Telebracers, or you need an extra Mugic: flip up one General's Standard and pick Danian. Then cast Ode of Obscurity for 3. Use Tabaal 3 times. If you have Castle Bohdran, you may instead use Najarin to bring back Ode of Obscurity and play off of Tabaal a second time to get an additional 3 more infects.

Use Strain of Infection targeting Glapaal. Use Deep Dirge on Tabaal, and sacrifice to infect 3. Use Najarin Younger to bring Strain of Infection back. Use Strain + Najarin 3 more times. Glapaal now has 14 Mugic counters.

Results: 4-3. Feels super slow, easy to get out-valued or interrupted.

I want fire air Mipedians. Using Owayki as the striker and hoping for the best. Oh but we get Blaze Barrage!
